I am delighted to announce that The Institute of Roofing has been successful in its bid for professional status regarding the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Management Card and are now recognized and listed by CSCS as a professional Institute and will from 1 st June, be able to offer CSCS Management cards to our members. There are three routes to a CSCS card available to members of the Institute (click here to see a sample):
Cards identify an individual’s professional status (The Institute of Roofing) The application process is relatively simple. For the PQP card, IoR members will need to take the Higher Managerial Health and Safety Test. For the PMMR card, members will have to take the necessary Health and Safety Test or give the reference number of the Health and Safety Test they have already completed and passed. Members of the Institute of Roofing can download the necessary application form from the Institute’s website (www.instituteofroofing.org.uk or the CSCS website (www.cscs.uk.com) and complete the details required. PMMR CARD : Signatures in Part 1 are required from your line manager and part 2 would require a Fellow of the Institute of Roofing’s signature for a Fellow’s application or a Fellow or Member of the Institute of Roofing’s signature for a Member’s application. A Member or Associate of the Institute of Roofing can sign for an Associate’s application. If the member does not have a line manager, then both signatures can be from the Institute, using the requirements above. PQP CARD: This requires you to provide a Job Title, unlike the PMMR card, but only requires one signature. This signature is as Part 2 above. Providing all the correct information is completed, cards normally take a maximum of 28 days to be issued The cost of a CSCS card is £ 25 and will be valid for 5 years. On expirery, the individual will be sent notification to the address stated on the application form. It is therefore vital that any change of address is notified to CSCS. The opportunity for IoR members to now get a CSCS card, the recently introduced range of services (see the news page on our website) and the growing recognition of the importance and benefits of roofing qualifications, I believe, underpins our status in the roofing industry and hopefully will demonstrate to non members that there has never been a better time to join the Institute of Roofing. If you require further information please contact the Institute of Roofing – Tel: 020 7436 0103 or e-mail info@instituteofroofing.org.uk.
