| London’s turn for Institute’s 27th AGM The Kensington Close Hotel, London was this year’s venue for the Institute of Roofing’s AGM - the 27th to be held.
Following last year’s AGM at Warwick University, this year saw the event moving back to the Capital.
Although a London venue had been favoured by many members, there was still a disappointing turnout with just under 60 members and guests attending. Nevertheless, those who did attend were able to listen to some interesting and forthright views from James Slater who presented his first Chairman’s report which included: good news on increased membership, excellent examination results, and the need to attract more members including women. Mike Kilbey presented the audited accounts reporting an increase in turnover, Mike Long told of 56 new members joining and how the quality of applicants had improved. Geoff Holt reported on the best year ever for students taking the Licentiate examination and the Institute’s achievement in gaining CSCS professional status and Martin Adwick reported on plans to upgrade the website and the launch of the Benefits leaflet. Retiring Director Brian Clarke was awarded an Honorary Fellowship. |
